Teenage Bottlerocket comes off best year yet for 7-show Wyoming tour
Teenage Bottlerocket didn't realize it was celebrating its 10th anniversary when planning its Wyoming tour. It just kind of occured to the members later.
The oversight is understandable.
The Laramie-based punk band is coming off a crazy busy year with tours in Australia, England, Europe and Canada; the release of a 7-inch record with three songs and work on a full-length album for release next year.
Today, it begins its seven-day, seven-show, seven-city tour of its home state.
"It's a nice little capper to probably on of the best years Teenage Bottlerocket's ever had," said bassist Miguel Chen of Laramie.
Teenage Bottlerocket formed in 2001 with twin brothers Ray (vocals/guitar) and Brandon (drums) Carlisle. The brothers' punk band, The Homeless Wonders, had just broken up and they were looking to strip down their music. Kody Templeman (vocals/guitar) of Newcastle joined in 2005 after his popular punk band, The Lillingtons, winded down.
As a kid growing up in Laramie, Miguel Chen was always in punk bands and went to The Homeless Wonders shows. At 16, he started touring with Teenage Bottlerocket, selling T-shirts and CDs. He joined at 21, after the previous bassist moved to California.
