West Holmes 'slides' past Orrville in four

Orrville - As a way to raise awareness about breast cancer, the team volleyball Orrville put on "Fight Like a Girl" T-shirts during warm-up before their game against West Holmes Thursday night.
Both teams took the T-shirt slogan to heart in an intense battle Ohio Cardinal Conference, but at the end of the Knights triumphed, defeating the Red Riders 25-22, 27-25, 18-25, 25-20.
The teams were all knotted nine times in a game, but West Holmes has always been able to regain the lead.
In Game 2, was up 20-18 before Orrville costly mistakes gave West Holmes a sideout. From there, the Knights relied heavily on sophomore middle hitter Laina Snyder, who hammered Online Riders "front with a slide attack all night.
"This is our best offensive weapon," said coach Jim Holmes Park West, whose team improved to 14-5 and 10-2 in the OCC. "Whenever we can, we will back . It's a shift that we have in our favor. We play on our strengths and if they can not stop it, we will not stop it.

Five young, who appeared to range from age 7 to as old as 14, were captured on a surveillance video robbing a store nonprofit savings Riverside, where they stole candy and clothing to midnight Friday.
"The age of these children has just blown away. My little son is 7 and one of the children seems to be the same size and age as him," said Ron Calandra, executive director of Hearts for free homeless, who operates Hearts Thrift Shop at 890 Tonawanda St.
Besides the late hour of the break-in and the age of the thieves, Calandra said he cannot believe they were able to make their way atop a garage and then smash windows to gain entry into a second-floor storage area, where they stole rock ’n’ roll Aerosmith T-shirts.
“I’m baffled as to how they got up on top of the garage,” Calandra said. “I don’t think people believe our cameras are real, and they made a mistake.
