Bradford derby in World Billiards Championship
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association's World Billiards Championship gets underway on Monday at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, with three Bradfordians rubbing shoulders with the game's best.
Mark Hirst has been, without doubt, Bradford’s finest billiard player for some years and is paired in the same group as Bradford’s Jason Devaney, world No 7 Peter Gilchrist, Rob Hall and Manish Jain.
Brian Watson faces a tough group, with world No 2 Dhruv Sitwala, Devandra Joshi and Billy Bousefield all capable of going the distance.
The competition runs until the following Sunday and prior to that this Saturday and Sunday at the same venue is the EBOS Jim Williamson Memorial Open , named in honour of the former owner of the Northern Snooker Centre who sadly passed away last year.
In Snooker, Bradford No 1 remain unbeaten after their trip to Sheffield No 3 in the Yorkshire Inter- District League at the weekend.
